AEDBF International Symposium
On 5 May, the Luxembourg branch of the European Association for Banking and Financial Law (AEDBF), in cooperation with the AEDBF Europe, organised a symposium on the evolution of banking and financial regulation under the effect of customer protection rules. The symposium discussed how new regulations are being inspired by the consumer model. Given the evolution of the concept of "customer", banking and financial law must find a balance between its objective of regulating the market, while guaranteeing the protection of individuals, in particular senior customers, substantially affected by the digitisation of the banking and financial sector.
Counsel Katrien Veranneman participated in a round table on the role of supervisory authorities and case law of the CJEU and national courts, with a focus on whether risk and speculation are still accepted.
Partner, Myriam Pierrat as vice-president, and Senior Associate, Tiago Nogueira as secretary of the AEDBF co-organised this event, which was also co-sponsored by our firm.
