ALFI PE & RE conference 2021

ALFI’s annual PE & RE conference took place on 30 November and 1 December 2021 in a virtual format. Private assets specialists from a variety of backgrounds gave attendees their insights on what to expect from alternative funds in post-pandemic economies in Europe and beyond. They also discussed whether, and why, the outlook for private markets is different from public markets as well as a range of other topical PE & RE matters.

On day one of the conference, Partner Joachim Cour was a panellist during a discussion entitled “Demystifying regulation”. This session provided an overview of the changes proposed to the AIFM Directive by the EU Commission as well as other regulatory matters. Joachim discussed in greater detail the changes affecting loan originating funds. He also discussed certain structuring options for managers that intend to sell illiquid strategies to non-professional investors (also referred to as’ retailisation of private equity’).
