Under the theme "Leading-edge tax expertise", the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) hosted its annual Taxes for Investment Funds seminar on 24 October in Luxembourg. This technical seminar provided first-hand insights from tax experts on the impact of upcoming rules on investment funds and investment fund structures. The seminar covered the following topics:
- The concept of substance in investment fund structures and asset management business models: the potential impacts of the draft "Unshell" Directive, the influence of case law and of the increasing use of teleworking;
- The global minimum taxation: the OECD Pillar Two Model Rules and the corresponding EU Directive introduce new and complex rules that investment fund structures will very soon have to consider;
- Subscription tax for investment funds: the past and the future, current issues for asset managers.
Partner Jacques Elvinger co-presented a discussion on: “Subscription tax for investment funds: the past and the future, current issues and challenges for asset managers”.
