In connection with Earth day, we are delighted to have installed two beehives in our garden.
Placing a beehive on our grounds means, above all, participating in the preservation and development of bee populations. It is also a way to interact directly with these insects, discover their cycle, the problems they face for survival and in the future, enjoy their honey!
The chosen colonies come from a breed known for its gentleness; they are present in communities and do not exhibit aggression. The activity of the hive is at its peak in June and declines from July. The bees will become inconspicuous from October to April. Bees are vital for the preservation of ecological balance and biodiversity in nature. By pollinating flowers and crops, they provide one of the most recognisable and vital ecosystem services.
The greatest contribution of bees and other pollinators is the pollination of nearly three quarters of the plants that produce 90% of the world’s food.
Bees have undergone significant declines in recent decades, and given their critical role in the agricultural industry, creating solutions to help honey bees thrive, start in our own backyards!
