Loïc Bacquelaine focuses his practice on asset management and advising regulated entities, including management companies, alternative investment fund managers (AIFMs), investment firms, and other professionals in the financial sector. 

He provides comprehensive guidance to these regulated professionals on establishing, structuring, and managing their operations in Luxembourg. His advice covers both initial set-up and ongoing compliance, as well as operational, regulatory, outsourcing, and cross-border matters.

Loïc assists clients in developing, reviewing, and enhancing compliance programmes, and supports them during on-site and off-site inspections by public authorities, regulatory investigations, and enforcement proceedings. He also helps clients respond to regulatory observations and sanctions, and represents them in defending against claims.

He delivers regulatory advice to Luxembourg-based regulated professionals on a wide range of topics, including the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) and outsourcing and delegation arrangements.

Career and memberships

He began his career at Elvinger Hoss Prussen in 2017.

In 2022, he relocated to London, United Kingdom, joining an international law firm. During his nearly three-year tenure there, he was instrumental in establishing and leading a Luxembourg Law desk, providing cross-border legal support to clients with interests in Luxembourg.

In 2025, he returned to Luxembourg and rejoined Elvinger Hoss Prussen, resuming his role within the team he had previously been a part of and bringing with him enhanced international expertise.

He has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 2017.

He is a member of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Royal Automobile Club de Belgique (RACB), where he advises on various regulatory matters and serves as a Steward for motorsport competitions, including the Formula 1 World Championship and the Formula E World Championship, on a volunteer basis.

Education

Master's degree in Business law from the Université de Liège (Belgium).
